I am often asked when is the best time to take beach photos, for us here on the Gulf Coast of Florida the simple answer is any season because our weather is mostly mild. We do have some cool days but even on those cool days the beach is gorgeous and the skies are blue.

The deeper question is what is the best time of the day? If you have ever heard the term Golden Hour? It is the time of day when the sun is low in the sky, It happens twice a day, at sunrise and at sunset. Despite the name, it can last longer depending on where you live and what time of the year it is. This is especially important to photograph at this time at the beach because we have no shade to protect from the harsh sun so when the sun gets low in the sky the angles and length are more flattering to your face. The warm colors make wonderful portraits. So now that you know what Golden Hour is and when that happens , what is the best time to take your beach photos?
